Napa Cellars has been a true Napa Valley Classic since 1976. Though Napa Valley is small — 30 miles long and only a few miles across at its widest point — its varied microclimates and soils make it possible to successfully grow a variety of wine grapes. This gives Napa Cellars' winemaker, Joe Shirley, the luxury to choose the best fruit for each wine it makes without ever having to look beyond the Napa Valley.
Napa Valley is the first agricultural preserve in America. Ideally suited to grow a variety of wine grapes—thanks to millennia-old volcanic and marine soils and a Mediterranean climate shared by just two percent of the globe—Napa Valley is synonymous with world-class wine
Napa Cellars crafts it wines are crafted from its own sustainably farmed vineyards, as well as those of esteemed partner growers who share the company’s meticulous dedication to the coveted terroir of Napa Valley.
Joe Shirley is Napa Cellar’s winemaker. Despite growing up in Napa Valley, Joe didn’t know much about wine until, as a young man, he crossed paths with an influential wine buyer in England. When Joe returned home to Napa, having tasted some of the finest bottlings in the world, he viewed the vineyards through an entirely different lens. Had he not discovered his passion for wine, Joe might have led a completely different life. But the life he was meant to live exists at the intersection of scientific precision and passionate artistry. It exists in the vineyard, in the cellar and, ultimately, in the glass, where a sense of place—and his expression of that place—comes to life. For Joe, wine is deeply personal.
Our view of the world is one that can only come from Napa Valley.
From here, we see history and heritage.
We see vines cascading down hillsides and dotting the valley floor below.
We see a vast collection of soils coexisting across a mere 30 miles, creating some of the most unique growing conditions of any wine region in the world.
We see cooling breezes floating across sun-drenched vineyards, balancing the warmest of days with the gentle respite of Pacific air.
We know there are few places on earth that grow grapes like ours.
We know it’s our calling to make wines that honour this terroir in its purest expression.
